Marc had a distinguished 32-year career at General Mills. As Executive Vice President of Global Strategy, Growth, Marketing Innovation and New Business Development, Marc provided vision and leadership of several important areas for General Mills. They included overall responsibility for the company’s global strategy, analysis and the development and pursuit of future growth opportunities including acquisitions. Belton led the company’s global marketing functions including GCom, Consumer Insights, Customer marketing and the company’s strategic health and wellness initiatives.
In 2012, Belton helped create 301 Inc.—a New Business Development Division with the mission to accelerate innovation via new business models and categories beyond the core. Throughout his career, Marc had the privilege of building some of the great brands in the CPG industry including Cheerios, Nature Valley, Yoplait, Cascadian Farm, Lucky Charms and Helpers. Marc’s diverse set of leadership experiences extended to line-operating roles including:

  • SVP Yoplait USA, GMI Canada and Small Planet Foods
  • SVP President Big G Cereals
  • SVP New Ventures
  • VP President Snacks Unlimited

Marc earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from Dartmouth College and his MBA from The Wharton School of Business. He has 16 years of Fortune 500 Corporate Board Experience having served at Navistar International and US Bancorp. Marc is also committed to community having served as Director with the Salvation Army (National), the Guthrie Theater, Northwestern College, Urban Ventures and Minnehaha Academy.
Belton is a member of the Executive Leadership Council in Washington, D.C.  He has received numerous awards and recognition, including being named one of corporate America’s most powerful African-American executives by Fortune and Black Enterprise as well as one of the most creative people in business by Fast Company magazine. Marc is often called as a guest speaker in the areas of business, leadership and faith. Marc lives in Minneapolis with his wife Alicia and children Alexander and Gabrielle.
